Day 9

He is at the forefront, preparing to speak again in the photo above.

She’s tucked away in a corner behind me, ever faithful, ever supportive of the love of her life.

He goes to speak again, for the millionth time.

She interrupts him from the back, motioning him to remind him that he’s in a smaller chapel with no mic, so he must speak up.

We are so thankful for my (Mike’s) uncle and aunt (pictured at the end, the lady in the white sweater).

We’re thankful for family in general of course… there are plenty more days in November for us to write about them.

We thought we’d start with these two.

Officially they retired from pastoring and moved out to a house in the mountains like they had always wanted to do.

But really, they travel more than ever, inspired by their faith to do good and make the world a better place.

They still speak in Ohio, Maryland, Virginia… oh, and Brazil.

He speaks with the fervor of a 19th century revivalist… and walks away from the pulpit to embrace us with the same mischievous twinkle in his eye as a child.

These two have supported us through so much. They supported me as a child when I didn’t even know it, helping ends meet. My uncle was always there for me when my father wasn’t.

They’re real examples of living a life based on principles without judging others. They’re real examples of Christian love.

After 40+ years of marriage, they’re also real examples of making love work.

And we are very, very thankful for them.
