Brittany and Mike’s Norfolk Botanical Gardens engagement session was such a joy to capture on film.

If you go to the Gardens at just the right time of day, every flower & every leaf dance in the light. Through the viewfinder of a camera, they look like jewels.

Brittany and Mike danced in the light, too.

We can hardly wait for their Williamsburg Winery wedding this coming September!

I cannot help but fall in love over and over again with Virginia every time we drive out to the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The Charlottesville area just has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth and that definitely makes it one of the best spots for engagement sessions.

Jillian and Jake love the outdoors and camping. So this is totally them. And that’s really what engagement sessions are all about.

Aaron and Bethany are one of the sweetest couples and share an intense love of the Virginian countryside. Aaron is a very talented photographer as well, and Bethany is such a wonderful source of support for his up-and-coming business.  It is always an honor to be able to capture a fellow photographer’s love story.

These two took us to our two new favorite spots in Virginia: a peach orchard in the mountains of Charlottesville and a private lavender field that made us feel as if we had stepped across the ocean to Provence, France.

Love is beautiful, love is kind, and these two embody that in every way.

Sabina and Brent will be husband and wife in just a few days! We are so excited that their film scans came back just in time for us to share our faves from their engagement session before the big day.

We explored the campus of their alma mater, Christopher Newport University, together and took photos until the sun went down. It was so nice to go to all the places that are so special to them as a couple: the corner they first met, the bench of the first kiss…

Sabina and Brent will celebrate their wedding at the West Manor Inn by Lynchburg, Virginia. We can hardly wait!

For Brenna and Dave’s engagement session, we went back to where it all began.

They’ve been together for almost a decade, but this was where it started.

Brenna and Dave began their friendship when she was still a student at Maryvale in Baltimore, Maryland.

“This is where I came to meet you for the dance, remember?” we heard as we walked around the campus.

Since then, their relationship has only been strengthened… their friendship, deepened.

We can’t say just how excited we are about their wedding next June!

Asya and Brandon got married at the beautiful Christopher Newport University in Hampton Roads. The traditional ceremony in the university’s own chapel was so moving. Asya’s long cathedral-style veil was just made for this classic wedding day. It was dancing around in the wind as we were taking their portraits and it just made for the prettiest bridal portraits. The pink and purple floral arrangements were carefully put together by the bride herself.

We are so in love with the hospitality of Asya and Brandon’s families. And as a majority of Asya’s family had traveled from far away (Italy, Armenia, Germany..) for their wedding, the atmosphere was full of energy, joy and culture.

Asya and Brandon are a perfect fit; loving, motivated and fun. Their wedding day was a perfect reflection of them.

Like us, Kristen has a special love of film and all things “wedding.”

She’s assisted us on a wedding and has become a wonderful source of support.

She’s an extremely talented photographer who just took the big leap this year to go full-time!

Over the past year, we’ve watched her grow into an amazing artist.

Lee has been Kristen’s constant source of support as she has undertaken some major new steps in her life towards being a full-time photographer.

He’s her best friend, and a natural when it comes to strumming the ukulele.

We had a lovely time capturing their love on film in and around Fredericksburg, Virginia.

As if it couldn’t get any better, our brief walk through the downtown historic district was topped off by an awesome band that played for Lee and Kristen.

They forgot about us, about the world around them, and just danced. And it was as beautiful as they are.

Lee + Kristen, we’re so thankful to have you both as friends and look forward to where the future takes you!!

It was so much fun capturing this gorgeous Gloucester couple’s engagement session on film!

It doesn’t get any more country. We loved that their engagement session took place between the backyard they share and Jen’s childhood garden.

Jen’s horse was such a lovely addition to their engagement session and she photographed so naturally; she could definitely have a future as a model!

Jen and Casey are old friends and a perfect match.

We loved their enthusiasm for photography from the first time we met them. We’re so excited for their wedding in 2015!!

We have photographed so many weddings and engagements on the historic William and Mary campus in Williamsburg, Virginia and we LOVE it.

We LOVE to discover new spots that are special  to our couples, and we always manage to be surprised!

Sarah and Jeremy introduced us to one of our new favorite locations on the campus: a gnarly old, magical-looking tree that is hidden just beside the sunken gardens. The tree looked like it would be just as home on the campus of Hogwart’s as it would be in Williamsburg. It stretches out to form a natural bench, inviting lovers to snag a kiss in the shade. Too romantic!

Sarah and Jeremy met at work and have been inseparable for years. They have the sweetest pup (which was the inspiration for the painting that Jeremy proposed with) and together, they have an unending sense of humor. Not wanting to do the typical picnic, they brought lots of family heirlooms to set up a “picnic of memories” as the sun was setting. They cuddled and stole kisses and read an old favorite, The Velveteen Rabbit.

Just perfect.

When there are lots of laughter, kisses and hugs and you see the the love in their eyes… we’ll just let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

Sarah and Jeremy, we cannot wait for your Williamsburg wedding at the Fords Colony Club this November! Thanks for showing us a new side of William and Mary!
