There is something so special about expecting parents.

It is in the smiles, the hugs and the kisses.

There is sacred, incomparable beauty in an expecting mother.

Not having children ourselves, we are always so privileged to experience a “preview” of the  joy it brings to people.

Lianne and Eric welcomed us into their home for their maternity session one afternoon and we met up that evening for their outdooir portraits in Newport News Park.

Lianne and Eric – the unforgettable redhead duo from our bridal session at Bay Tree Manor – can hardly wait to hold their first baby soon. Little Isla will be one lucky girl – her mom and dad are already so crazy about her.
They are counting down the days until they will meet her.

We’re so happy they chose us as their maternity photographers to preserve this special time for them on film.

We have not only had the opportunity to photograph her wedding, but we’ve been honored to photograph these natural light maternity portraits as well.

We just LOVE the scans we received of our developed film from Indie Film Lab and The Film Box.

It’s not something we do often, but it was so much fun and a real joy to do.

Oh, that 250 person wedding at the badly lit venue? No problem! We can handle it…

But when a former bride of ours approached us to do her maternity session…

Not only were we honored…

We have to admit… at first, we were nervous…

We told her we’d never done that before..

But she didn’t mind.

“If it’s not you guys, I just wouldn’t do it,” she said.

To capture the beauty of an expectant mother, to capture that special “glow”, is a huge responsibility…

It has to be luminous... but natural…

It’s definitely not just any portrait session!!

But Megan put her faith in us…

And after months of planning, and even a day where Carina went shopping with her to help her pick out outfits, we met up at her family home in rural Gloucester County, VA..

And everything just happened perfectly.

Megan is SUCH a beautiful mother-to-be. Her husband, Jeremy, could not be there because he just finished basic training, but we know he’ll love these even more than we do.

Megan, thank you for believing in us and trusting us to capture your portraits at this special time of your life.

We also got to capture some gorgeous boudoir shots of this breathtaking mommy-to-be, and she’s been gracious enough to let you peek…
