Recommended Vendors

As wedding photographers in the Williamsburg/Hampton Roads area, we are blessed with a lot of opportunities to work with some of the most talented wedding industry vendors in Southeastern Virginia.

We are always so amazed by the amount of work that these people put into making your special day unforgettable.

It also gives us an even greater responsibility to help preserve their work in photos, because most of their amazing creations will only last in your memories and the photos we create.

This list is not ”exclusive,” is subject to change, and while many of the people listed we call friends, our recommendations are based on our personal experiences made working with them, their talent and overall professionalism.  Hampton Roads is filled with excellent vendors, but these are just a few we’ve had the opportunity to work with.

Thank you so much to all of the people – makeup artists, florists, designers, boutiques, stylists, caterers, cake designers, etc., who help make wedding photos unforgettable.

 Make-Up

Make-up really helps us, as photographers, bring out a bride’s natural beauty. One makeup artist friend of ours says, “Makeup dictates how you look day of, and your wedding photographer captures how you will look forever.” Our two professions kind of go hand in hand.

Kristine French of Kristine Marie Makeup Artistry is an outstanding makeup artist based out of Suffolk and a true professional. She’s not only worked with us on several projects, but she has also become in invaluable source of support since we became part of the local wedding industry. Her work has been featured on the covers of several publications as well as several major wedding blogs. She even put makeup on Michael once for a photoshoot (true story!).

Lauren Townsend of Lauren Townsend Makeup Artistry is another Southeastern Virginia professional makeup artist with whom we have had the pleasure of working. She has worked with numerous photographers and has an outstanding portfolio. It was an honor to work with her and we look forward to doing so again soon!

Hairstylists

Hair by Alice is based out of Virginia Beach. Alice Olson is a superb hair stylist who was trained in Carina’s home state of Bavaria! In addition to being a fellow travel-freak, she recently was awarded a ”Bride’s Choice Award” for Southeastern Virginia. Every chance to work with her we are thankful for.

Event Planning/Design

Ivory of Storybook Events  is a Norfolk-based event planner and designer. She is all about making your wish come true and honestly she’s the closest thing to a fairy godmother we’ve met. She also specializes in floral, and her bouquets range from traditional to very avant-garde. She is not listed under “florists” however because her services range from floral to event planning and design. Oh, and she is a certified, licensed wedding officiant.

Florists

 Events in Bloomis located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Jennifer is not only extremely talented, but she has an impressive resume with past clients including former President George Bush and Queen Elizabeth the II.  She is the former president of the Virginia Professional Florist Association and was inducted into the American Institute of Floral Design in 2004.

Palette of Petals is made up of a passionate, talented team of sisters, based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Their work has been featured in several publications and they have won numerous regional awards, including: “”The Knot Best of Weddings 2011, The Knot Best of Weddings 2012, and Wedding Wire’s Bride’s Choice Awards 2012.

Cakes

 Courthouse Cake Company is based out of Gloucester Co., Virginia, and services Williamsburg and the Tidewater region of Virginia. A native of the United Kingdom, Sara’s cakes have been featured in several international publications.

Boutique

Our friend Angela recently bought the familiar Bridal Boutique of Gloucester, which you’ve probably passed if you’ve driven up Route 17 in Gloucester. Since taking over, she has been actively taking the boutique in a vibrant new direction. Her dresses range from vintage to a selection of new designer gowns. Her inventory can be seen in several major publications this year, including an editorial which we photographed for Virginia Bride Magazine.

DJ

Curtis of Hampton Roads DJ is a fun, enthusiastic professional who recently won an award from Virginia Living as one of the region’s top DJs.
