These bridal portraits were taken last month (October 2012) at the beautiful Williamsburg Winery. Kirstie Fals Makeup Artistry and Spring Wiley provided makeup and styling, flowers were provided by Williamsburg Floral, cake was provided by Sara at the Courthouse Cake Company.

We are seriously CRAZY about this weather! Fall just makes the perfect weather for engagement photos. Kimberly and Paul were the lucky recipients of a FREE engagement session.

We have been blessed to come to know Sara at The Courthouse Cake Company, LLC in Gloucester County, Virginia over the past several months. Being a creative couple ourselves, we find it is really important to surround ourselves with creative people. It helps when those people also have lovely personalities, as does Sara!

Would you believe that these figurines, each with a story of its own, a history, an attitude, and all of their own secrets, are each completely edible? Sara is not only a masterful artist and storyteller, but a trained and licensed cake-vendor & designer. Each cake displays the talent and skill which she learned both in England and under the wing of renowned cake designer, Minette Rushing.

When we were introduced to “her girls” (pictured), we both started immediately giving them our own fantasized backstories. Indeed, when revealed, the characters start to take on a life of their own.

As imaginative as she is, Sara’s Courthouse Cake Company, LLC naturally offers individually designed cakes for weddings and celebrations. Like us, Sara travels to locations across the Central and Tidewater Regions of Virginia. Some of her clients actually travel all the way from New York City just to select their wedding cake from Sara.

We took these with less than of hour of daylight left near Yorktown Battlefield, in only natural light.

We were so lucky to be able to join Richard & Jenny for their wedding in Alexandria, Virginia!

Jenny contacted us soon after we moved from Germany to Virginia. She found one of our ads online and contacted us to ask about meeting via Skype. A few minutes into our Skype conference we knew we had found our clients!

This couple had a funky personality and you can tell that even though she’s from Brooklyn and he’s from North Carolina, they’re made for each other!

It was FREEZING and windy that evening, so we didn’t want to ask our couple to stand out in the cold for terribly long. They made it easy for us, too! They were naturals in front of the camera. We had these portraits in about 15-20 minutes.

From here, we went on to the ceremony and reception, which was held in and catered by the Carlyle Club, a funky jazz club in Alexandria, VA.

The venue was atmospheric and cool, totally suited to Jenny’s & Richard’s personalities.

We had SO much fun. Jenny & Richard, thanks for inviting us to be a part of your wedding!

These are fabulous! There are actually some pics on the website that were not in our gallery. I am sure they will be on the disks though! FYI: While Richard’s Mom is southern, (that is a Georgia drawl you hear) Richard was born in Manhattan, NYC and raised in Jersey. That is the real reason we get along so well! Ha!

We are SO excited to photograph Jesse & Angela’s wedding in historic Gloucester County, Virginia in May 2013. We found we have a lot in common! Even though they are young, this couple has been together for almost 10 years – another real teenage love story! In that time, they’ve also traveled around the world and back. We even went to the same college!Our engagement shoot was so much fun and we are looking forward to next May!

If you know me, you almost surely know my brother. Bobby has what can best be described as an amazing personality. He is confident and full of bravado, as well he should be – he can shoot hoops better than me, bowl better than me, and do just about anything else that involves a ball better than me, too! He also has always had a very conscious sense of style. He does not like going out without being well-dressed. This at times involves 3 piece suits, fedoras and briefcases.

Asking Bobby to pose for a few portraits was not a problem for him at all – he was in his element. We spent some time together in the late afternoon sun and we made these together, all natural light with a 16-35mm L lens & a 5D Mk II. The images are all unedited. I converted them directly from RAW to JPEG. The light was gorgeous, and Bobby and I got to spend some much needed time together (Carina and I have been pretty busy lately!).
