About two weeks ago, our friend Kristine French of Kristine Marie Makeup Artistry texted me to meet her in Hampton. The magazines had arrived.
I put the address into my navigation system only to wind up in the middle of a lot filled with boats, RVs, and massive shipping containers.
“This is where we’re picking up the magazines?” I thought… maybe I’d put in the wrong address?
Sure enough, Kristine arrived and backed her car up to a shipping container, unlocked it and pried open the heavy metal doors.

We first met Kristine late last year, but I’d followed her work online for a long time. She has worked with some of our favorite photographers. She is not only a fantastic makeup artist in her own right, but she knows exactly how to do makeup to suit the style not only of the model, but of the photographer.
But when we met, we weren’t talking about makeup.
In addition to running a successful makeup business, Kristine also helped bring the Wedding Planner Magazine to Hampton Roads.
What’s great about the Wedding Planner Magazine? Not only does it offer only top quality vendors, but – if you think we’re trying to sell it to you, get ready – it’s FREE. You can find free copies of it throughout Hampton Roads & the Middle Peninsula. It’s filled with short articles to help you plan your wedding, real weddings, and a themed editorial. It also features tons of awesome vendors. And did we mention it’s free and we have a box for brides who are planning their weddings in or around Hampton Roads?

Inside the shipping container there were boxes. Lots of boxes. And a bill from the printer for over 8,000 copies. “And that’s just the first shipment!” Kristine said. “More will be on their way soon.”
I took four boxes – one for us, and three to deliver to other advertisers.
As I was delivering them, I realized just how special it was to be a part of this.

It’s not just about the magazine and seeing your work in print.
The magazine is put together by people just like us – self-employed, wedding industry people who are working together to make this happen.
The magazine could not have happened without photographers, makeup artists, florists, cake designers, caterers, venues, event planners, bridal boutiques/salons, hair stylists, coming together on their own initiative to make it possible.
30,000 copies of the magazine will be found around Southeastern Virginia, and all because these people got together and made it happen.
