New Year, new weddings, new photoshoots, new logo (coming soon), new website… new friends & new relationships
2:43 AM New Year’s Day found me sitting in front of the computer screen, eyes red, having worked without success to get a new website template up and running by midnight.
Carina and I had moved from livebooks to WordPress in September and were happy to do so. Our previous template did not satisfy us and we invested in our website as a Christmas present to us.
One of the things that makes WordPress so popular is it’s flexibility, and it’s great, trust me! But it’s not a simple drag-and-drop site… and I’m a photographer… so while I might have an eye for what I like, hehe, the CSS & HTML5 and all of that coding is a bit beyond me. Slowly but surely though things started taking shape.
So welcome to the new website… it’s a work in progress but we hope you enjoy your stay.![]()
Last week we photographed a wedding (look for a blog this weekend!!), which was AWESOME… more on that later…
This week Carina started furthering her education to better our business. I am so proud of her… and even though she might not have as much time for photoshoots during the week she is still an unmovable foundation of our business.
Yesterday I sat down and took part in creativeLive’s live “reSTARt” workshop with Jasmine Star about redefining your photography business. It was LONG, and while all I did was sit on my butt with our little dog curled up in my lap and a notepad with pen at hand, it was grueling. 3 photographers voluntarily had their businesses put to the test in front of a LIVE audience. 3 photographers were thrown into the arena of being interviewed by a real couple in front of thousands of peers. They were all so brave, and actually they all did very well.
Jasmine was also full of quotable quotes. So much so they even had a contest based around it! My favorite was something to the effect of: “You don’t hope for an insert keyword here image, you make an insert keyword here image.”
Better, I learned a lot. A lot about how I want our business to be by the end of 2013.
I feel positive about us. I feel confident where we are now.
But I do not want to be stagnant.
We are so blessed to be in this together and to have each other, and also for the people who pushed us forward. And also for the people who we get to meet everyday who make us better without even knowing it. We are thankful everyday.
We are not where we need to be yet.
But we are getting there together.![]()
