Sabina and Brent will be husband and wife in just a few days! We are so excited that their film scans came back just in time for us to share our faves from their engagement session before the big day.

We explored the campus of their alma mater, Christopher Newport University, together and took photos until the sun went down. It was so nice to go to all the places that are so special to them as a couple: the corner they first met, the bench of the first kiss…

Sabina and Brent will celebrate their wedding at the West Manor Inn by Lynchburg, Virginia. We can hardly wait!

Virginia Engagement and Wedding Photographers

 

Josh and Becky said “I do” on the most perfect spring day at the Langley Airforce Chapel in Hampton. Their classic wedding featured sophisticated tie knots, a beautiful ball gown, and a moving church ceremony.
Becky’s bridal portraits were displayed at the reception. Her grandfather’s bible and his grandfather’s cufflinks also made for sweet and personal details.

It was funny how Becky actually met with us to talk about their wedding before Josh had asked her to marry him. We were surprised but loved that confidence and excitement. Becky was right, the question was just waiting to be asked (and the perfect ring was waiting to be forged). Josh and Becky are just made for each other.
From now on there is no separating these two. Josh and Becky have been kept apart by school, work and family for the past years and are now building a new home together in Connecticut. We couldn’t be happier for them!

We have photographed so many weddings and engagements on the historic William and Mary campus in Williamsburg, Virginia and we LOVE it.

We LOVE to discover new spots that are special  to our couples, and we always manage to be surprised!

Sarah and Jeremy introduced us to one of our new favorite locations on the campus: a gnarly old, magical-looking tree that is hidden just beside the sunken gardens. The tree looked like it would be just as home on the campus of Hogwart’s as it would be in Williamsburg. It stretches out to form a natural bench, inviting lovers to snag a kiss in the shade. Too romantic!

Sarah and Jeremy met at work and have been inseparable for years. They have the sweetest pup (which was the inspiration for the painting that Jeremy proposed with) and together, they have an unending sense of humor. Not wanting to do the typical picnic, they brought lots of family heirlooms to set up a “picnic of memories” as the sun was setting. They cuddled and stole kisses and read an old favorite, The Velveteen Rabbit.

Just perfect.

When there are lots of laughter, kisses and hugs and you see the the love in their eyes… we’ll just let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

Bridal portraits on film are among our favorite things to shoot. A lot of the times, moms will be there too, which makes it even more emotional. It was wonderful that Kim’s mom was able to come out this lovely farmhouse that day! Kristin Partin, being a photographer herself, has transformed  her entire home with photography in mind. This lovely piece of quiet in the middle of nowhere in Central Virginia has a rustic and elegant feel which was absolutely perfect for Kim’s bridals. And a blooming field of buttercups behind her house? Yes, that was epic.

Kim just blew us away. She is so kind and my goodness, so beautiful. Needless to say I have also fallen in love with her gorgeous dress! 🙂 As these were taken just a few days before her wedding day, you can really see the sweet anticipation of becoming a wife to her best friend.

The big day was almost two weeks ago at the amazing Pippin Hill Farm in Charlottesville, Virginia. Unfortunately we weren’t available to photograph their wedding, but they had a great photographer (can’t wait to see the photos).

This is day two of our thankful-series. This blog post is especially for all you dog lovers out there 🙂

I have always been obsessed with dogs. And as my family never wanted to get a family dog, I had plenty of toy dogs and hoped that one day my dream of having my own puppy would come true…

August, our snow-white male Chihuahua, joined our little family in March 2012.
His previous family could no longer keep him.
We lived in Germany at the time and it was an icy and wet March day. We took the train and walked for about 3 miles to get to August’s previous home.
He looked scared and we immediately noticed the two big scars on his back and his crooked nose. It seemed as if he hadn’t been treated very well…he was just about 5 pounds and 7 months old.
We just had to take him home with us. We took the train back while trying to figure out what we should call this little guy. After considering a few other fitting names like Gollum and Smeagul, we decided to call him August.
That did not seem fitting because of the month, but because he was born and raised in the small Bavarian town “Augsburg” (founded by Augustus).
On the way home he fell asleep in my arm. Finally, finally I had my dog. What a feeling!!!

August has been an absolute joy!
He sleeps by my tummy every night, he loves to be cuddled and held, he is content to be with us, and do whatever, he is so quiet and easy-going I can even sneak him into stores! He even flew with us from Germany to America last year – he sat on my lap for almost 20 hours without making a single sound.
…I know…that sounds pretty obsessed. But I love this little guy, despite his crooked nose and scars. He is so tiny and yet his heart is so big.
I am so, so, so thankful to have him in our family!
